During the 70s, Honda made an important person in the U.S.  Market with two of the most economic-minded cars – the Accord and Civic.  Come 1979, they introduced the Honda preface.  This was the 1st try of the company to create a new type of car that still possesses the trustworthiness and perceptive design, 2 values that make up the core of Honda.  After over 20 years, this two-door automobile became the main performance auto among Honda’s lineup.  But although the Honda preface was sometimes built with Honda’s potent engines, it was not categorized as a muscle automobile.  Rather, the preface was built around drivability and handling and at the same time having power to remain competitive.

Thru its life, a number of complicated technologies for Honda were placed in the preface.  A few of these include Honda’s Active Torque Transfer, four-wheel steering and fuel injection.  The Honda prelude is also the 1st vehicle model of the company to get a VTEC, Honda’s trademark valve technology.

though the preface was a hit during the 80s, customer interest disappeared ten years after.  In the longer term, the preface was stuck in a $30,000 below tag cost.  For a sporty coupe, this was too dear.  In addition, it doesn’t have the total premium sports vehicle feel.  By year 2000, the coupe market vanished and the preface was dropped by Honda.

A prelude has 2 trim levels – Type SH and base.  Both levels have four cylinder 2.2 litre engine and VTEC along with a transmission of 5-speed manual.  There’s also a four-speed automatic transmission available.  In the beginning, the engine was able to use 195 h.p., but Honda did a power up to 200 horsepower for the manual models.

Generally, the prelude earned great commentary during its time.  It provided great handling and everyone who drove it adored the VTEC engine.  The negative feedback was generally directed at the prelude’s strange interior designed.  However, it still was a fave and appealing car.
